This photo was taken at the Great Wall of China as a stitched Panorama early in the morning just after sunrise. It was a misty morning with fog caressing some of the many hills in the area of the Great Wall.

Photo of the Year 2025 - 1st place
This photo was taken in the South of China and documents one of the last two original cormorant fisherman who used to make their living with fishing. Their specifically trained cormorants used to dive into the water and catch the fish. These days there are only two gentlemen left who used to actually practice this tradition. These days they only perform this art of fishing for photographers as it became uneconomic to make a living with this type of profession and due to overfishing there is not many fish left in the river.

This photo was taken in Vietnam and documents a lady laying out bunches of incense sticks to dry in the sun after they have been dyed in red color. Incense sticks are of high significance in asian culture and used for religious rituals and even traditional medicine.

CEWE Fotowettbewerb 2022 - Photo of the Year
This photo was taken in Venice. As you would expect, it was a typical day with countless tourists. I was drawn to take this photo as I felt it captured a moment of peacefulness amid all the chaos and noise - escapism from tourism.
